Raised and based in Far North Queensland, Suzie Searight is a leading figure in Townsville’s performing arts community. Working as a Dance Artist, Teacher, Movement Director, and Choreographer, she brings a deep commitment to contemporary dance, creative education, and artistic excellence. A 2017 QUT Fine Arts (Dance) graduate, Suzie returned to her hometown to share her training, passion, and vision with the next generation of performers.
Suzie’s choreographic style is defined by emotional depth, physical connection, and strong visual storytelling. Blending contemporary and experimental movement, her work explores themes of identity, resilience, and transformation, often drawing on dystopian and post-apocalyptic influences. Her pieces are carefully crafted with attention to sound, costume, and design, creating immersive, interdisciplinary performances that resonate with audiences.
Alongside her creative practice, Suzie works extensively across schools, community programs, and professional companies. She leads the Extra-Curricular Dance Program at The Cathedral School, teaches elite dancers at The Ann Roberts School of Dance, and plays a key role with the Ulysses Dance Company. Through teaching, choreography, and mentorship, Suzie continues to nurture emerging artists and strengthen the cultural life of Townsville and Far North Queensland.
